Ryan Fitzgerald:
Welcome back, Kristina and Tony, to the One Next Step. I just want to jump right in with our kind of bonus question. Whether our listeners are in business with a spouse like you are, or they just want to build stronger relationships with their partner and family, what is the biggest lesson you’ve learned about relationships from running a business together?
Tony Ebel:
I would say get around people who have great ones. Don’t leave it up to yourself. Like, really? That been huge for us. You can look at it like, Oh, I needed, as a chiropractor, I had great teachers and mentors to teach me how to do that. Or a business owner, we’ve had great teachers and mentors. Where we realized actually, this is my journey anyways. A lot of them that I learned like business from didn’t have great relationships. So then I would get to those dinners with them or get whatever, and I’m like, well that’s the opposite of what I wanna learn. I don’t wanna have a great business at the expense of a great relationship with Kristina and the kids. And so we really, we really changed that up and we sought out, um, great mentors and people around us, or even that way with our circle here locally. I would really say just surround yourself with people who have incredible relationships and seek that as a goal.
Kristina Ebel:
Yeah, absolutely. I would second that as, as my answer to and also open communication because, just like within your team is, it’s no different within your marriage of like, sometimes expectations are just, they need to be communicated better. And so as we started to work more and more together, sometimes we would like talk to each other at home in a way of you might be saying like, “Hey, did you get that done? Did you do that?” And so just kind of remembering of our marriages first where husband and wife first and having that open communication of, even if it’s just, I, I would love to get more involved in this and, you know, starting that conversation or, you know, maybe this is part of the business. I don’t love being that close in it. I’d like to find a way to hire out of this, so maybe I don’t have as much involvement in this one spot. And just to continue to grow together because as your business grows, your dynamic within your marriage as a partnership in business changes and grows too. So just always having that continued communication. And we like to do that on walks. So we kind of, you know, we’re max efficiency where we’re walking while also going through some of those different conversations.
